Abraham
believed and it was credited to him as righteousness. What did he believe for? He believed that God
would work out the good to those who love Him. Abraham loved God so much that he passed the test God set before him.
His love for God was shown in his obedience. He was commanded by God to give up his son that he had waited many years
for. Of course, God was only testing him and we must all go through a period of testing as well. Being tested
involves sacrifice and suffering and that does not include yearning for earthly desires. It means giving up what is
highly valued by you.
You
want to believe God for a new job but you don't want to believe that He can use you as a witness for Him. But
God tells us seek ye first the kingdom
of God and His righteousness and all these things will be added unto you. What must we seek first?
A house? A car? A job? No, we must first seek what God has called us to do, to fulfill the Great Commission.
In fact, you can just forget about the extra comforts of this world until you do seek God first. I am not saying
don't seek those things we need on this earth. But seek the provider instead of the provision; seek first the Creator
instead of the creation. James 4:2-3 says you have not because you do not ask, when you do ask you do not receive because
you ask with wrong motives so that you may spend what you get on your pleasures. You say that you believe God promises,
good! Even demons believe and shudder! Start seeking God's righteousness then you will be storing up treasure
in Heaven where moth or dust will not destroy.
