JESUS CHRIST, THE SAME YESTERDAY,
TODAY, AND FOREVER
I have heard some say that we don't have to keep the 10 Commandments anymore because we were living in a time of grace,
and we are luckier now than those who lived before Jesus' time because we would not be judged as harshly as those in the Old
Testament. Where is that in scripture? I have not found that anywhere.
I will tell you what I do find. Jesus Christ is the same yesterday,
today, and forever. (Hebrews 13:8) I also found that in the New Testament, God struck down a married
man and woman because they lied. (Acts 5)
Be careful that no one leads you astray. At one time, I had
believed what I was told instead of reading the bible for myself. That can be very dangerous. It just doesn't
make any sense that God would judge those in the Old Testament more harshly and have more grace toward those today
simply because they were born after Jesus' died on the cross.
We find in scripture that is not in the case, as I pointed out regarding the married couple who lied. I am not saying
that every teacher of the word of God is purposely leading others astray but what I am saying is that we must read scripture
for ourselves in order to be sure. Ask for God's guidance concerning this vital issue.
To believe the school of thought that God is so much more gracious to us now that we don't have to heed to
the 10 Commandments is like saying that simply because I become governor, I can get away with not obeying the traffic
laws. Regardless if I am governor or not, if I disobey the traffic laws, I can still get myself and others hurt. The law
of probability does not change simply because of my position. My high position does not matter. I can
get hurt whether I am a governor or not. I would still be breaking a law of probability in which there is a consequence. There are consequences to our actions regardless of when we lived also. In all reality, it should be much easier to
keep the 10 Commandments if we are Christians because we are supposed to have the Holy Spirit residing inside us.
Of course, obeying the 10 Commandments alone will not save you from going
to Hell, but they will allow you to see you do indeed need a savior. Once you realize that, then you can ask for
God's mercy through what Jesus did for you. But it is still up to you to accept Jesus and his offer,
or reject it. The choice is yours. Hopefully you will not refuse what has been freely given.
